Silly and mundane question you are all thinking, but I am sure we all have our preferences. My preference at the moment is sourdough with lashings of butter. I love the crunch and the taste and sourdough goes well with scrambled or poached eggs for breakfast. Fabulous to have with a lovely soup or a spaghetti Bolognese. Hmmm toasted sandwiches.

Posh Cheese Toasties (my way)
2 slices sourdough
Cheese of preference (we love KRAFT Cracker Barrel)
Mustard
Green onions (optional)

Avocado Toastie / French Toast with Sourdough ~ A Cup of Jo
4 eggs
2/3 cup milk
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
8 thick slices of 2-day-old bread, better if slightly stale
Butter
Maple syrup
Beat eggs, milk, and cinnamon together. Whisk until well blended. Pour into a shallow bowl.
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing bread to soak up some of the mixture. Melt some butter (or use vegetable oil) over a large skillet on medium high heat. Add as many slices of bread onto the skillet as will fit at a time. Fry until brown on both sides, flipping the bread when necessary.
Serve hot with butter, maple syrup, and if available, fresh berries.

Sourdough is my all time favourite for breakfast too. There is just something about it that I can't go past :)
